At the end of their six week residency at the Paintbrush Factory, in which the project space Pilot has been their studio, the two artists present the work that has been created during this residency. The exhibition includes different types of works, such as drawings, sculpture, video and sound. ___ Maje Mellin *1991, Germany and Enric Fort Ballester *1987, Spain are a couple of artists based in Germany. The installations of the multimedia artist Maje Mellin focus on showing the thin line where the border between different dimensions of perception fades. Fort Ballester has been lately working on performance situations were he also creates objects that remain not as a relic but as an object in a state of activity or rest. Mellin and Fort include drawing in their practices as a non-linguistic medium to sample their thoughts. While Mellin uses the medium in a more poetical way, in order to bring her other works in a polyphonic conversation, Fort uses drawing conceptually, as an archive to remind and reflect about what could happen in a performance or situation.
Inspired by a traffic sign which confuses some people, 'Residents only' gives the artists of the Factory an impulse to collaborate in a new context - because it is a little like a blind date. Without knowing beforehand what their colleagues will show, each artist presents his/her own work in this new context, which might alter the final effect of the work. Residents only is an annual event dedicated to the artistic community at the Paintbrush Factory.
