Her artistic activity reflects a divergent, experimental vision, in which the freedom of transposing ideas through various media such as installations, objects or photography, does not dismiss the traditional ones, such as drawing and painting. In their turn, they become fields of investigation and the material support for obsessive questions.
The subjects approached through my art are either social in nature (e.g. the perception and impact of the surrounding environment on people, the analysis of certain behavioral situations of city dwellers) or of the ars poetica type, focusing on the necessity to self-define in relation to art and/or the world (searching for connections among the multiple faces of existence/reality).
Livia Mateiaş is part of the young generation of Romanian visual artists. Among her interests we can find the cosmic inspired art, offering a fresh vision on subjects like teleportation, space flight, cosmic microwave background etc. Her artworks are created in a wide range of mediums (graphics, mixed and digital media, performance, multimedia installations), all being commonly animated by the cosmic theme. In the artist’s vision, COSMOS is one of the greatest mysteries, which in the process of transposing it into art, becomes a way to transcend the boundaries of the known universe, by immersing in a visually-imaginary universe, full of energy, contrast, tensions, light and color.

Petrică Ştefan’s painting evolves under certain rules imposed by the artist himself. With a carefully built studio routine, the painter thoroughly explores ways and methods of rendering matter in its various forms, from heavy, earthly consistencies to aerial vibrations and a certain line parallelism that become, altogether, real communication networks between the types of space he introduces in his works. Although shapes are not missing, and the construction of the image is similar to a study after life, the mental challenges that he creates stand in the comprehension of the whole. One could say that he paints in an abstract manner from this point of view, of abstract thinking transposed into visual image. The fragments he depicts, diverse and combined, seem to be part of a knowledgeable wholeness.
His current exhibition is taking place in the proximity of the residency studios and combines the classical display of works on canvas with site specific interventions. Fluid Networks opens the season for 418 Gallery Munich-Cetate-Bucureşti, after relocation in Cetate. - SIMONA VILAU
