Anca Poterașu Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded in May 2011 in a late 19th century old heritage building in Bucharest. Starting out from just 20 m2 of exhibition space in a unique turn-of-the-century-old setting, the Gallery has since expanded, becoming one of the best well-known art establishments in the city. In 2019, the new gallery space opened on Popa Soare 26, with more space to host exhibitions, project-spaces and art-talks in the same charming historical neighbourhood it started out in. During 2018 – 2019, it ran the curatorial exhibition programme in the guest gallery space of the Spinnerei Leipzig.

The exhibition brings together twelve artistic positions of different generations, working in various media and contexts. It is conceived as a curatorial reinterpretation of the exhibition presented by Galerie EIGEN + ART Leipzig earlier this year under the same title. The show focuses on the freedom of crossing lines and finding common ground on topics such as identity, war and destruction and individual transformations. The show is organized in collaboration with Elke Hannemann and Franziska Jaster from Galerie EIGEN + ART Leipzig on the occasion of The Leipzig Week in Bucharest, and is kindly supported by the German Embassy in Romania.
