Anca Poterasu Gallery
Strada Popa Soare 26

Anca Poterașu Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded in May 2011 in a late 19th century old heritage building in Bucharest. Starting out from just 20 m2 of exhibition space in a unique turn-of-the-century-old setting, the Gallery has since expanded, becoming one of the best well-known art establishments in the city. In 2019, the new gallery space opened on Popa Soare 26, with more space to host exhibitions, project-spaces and art-talks in the same charming historical neighbourhood it started out in. During 2018 – 2019, it ran the curatorial exhibition programme in the guest gallery space of the Spinnerei Leipzig.

Artists Chrystèle Nicot & Antoine Alesandrini present the show „Rumeurs de sociétés” after a six-week residency as part of the new ARAC Art&Residency two year programme organised in close collaboration with Anca Poterasu Gallery. Working with video, sound, object installations and new media, the artistic duo question the normalized societal rites, especially concerning the day-by-day habits and perceptions as they are built in a collective identity. The show casts light on the various rural and urban stereotypes as promoted by cinema and mass-media, analyzing false realities and dichotomies that create idyllic expectations and distorted outcomes. This project is financed with the support of EEA Grants 2014 – 2021 within the RO-CULTURE Program.
