performative installation SOMATIC FREAKS - Proprioceptors' Revolution Saturday, October 5, 17:00 - 20:00, /SAC @ Malmaison Sunday, November 3, 17:00 - 20:00, Galateca Concept, interpretation: Alexandra Mihaela Dancs and Vlad Benescu Sound design: Lala Mișosniky Graphic design: Ciprian N. Isac/ Graphic Front Photographer: Mihai Smeu The installation created by Vlad Benescu and Alexandra Mihaela Dancs opens the series of performative events within the project "Somatic Freaks - Proprioceptors’ Revolution", which is based on the study of proprioception and the methods to improve it through balance training, from a choreographic perspective. Over a three-hour period, the two performers dynamically explore balance through interaction with oversized objects. Their physicality adapts to their shapes and mechanics in a choreography of subtle movements capable of transforming the environment in which they occur. In this way the boundary between manipulation and symbiosis, organic and mechanical, human and non-human is blurred. Alexandra and Vlad create an ever-changing landscape, engaging bodies, objects and space in a continuous dialog between the ephemerality of stability and the unpredictability of moments of imbalance. The installation can be seen as a working laboratory in which success and failure structure the experience, as a meditation on (re)finding balance in an unstable world, but also as an exploration of the dynamics of the relationship between the two performers in which trust, negotiation and continuous mutual awareness are essential to maintain harmony in a constantly changing environment. Between 17:00 - 20:00, the audience is invited to arrive at any time and remain as long as they wish. Access is free. "Somatic Freaks - The Proprioceptors’ Revolution", a project of Art No More Association, conceived by Vlad Benescu and Alexandra Mihaela Dancs, co-funded by AFCN, presents to the audience in September, October and November a contemporary dance performance, a performative installation, movement workshops, debates, as well as the screening of a material documenting the whole project.
