It may seem unusual for the Department of History to invite some young artists to speak through their art about History. I am convinced, both myself and my colleagues that art is part of history, so we simply provide the framework for the artists, some of them at the beginning of their evolution, and some who left in the past the emotions of the first exhibition, in a space that was not designed as an art gallery. I believe that we share a piece of the surrounding world beauty and without any claim, we believe that such works make the world around us to be a little more colorful.
Adrian Cioroianu, the Dean of the Faculty of History, University of Bucharest
Faculty of History offers a favorable space for the performance of the young artists. The exhibition place promotes artists who search within their soul, who think at their problems and do not fall into the trap of fashionable art.

On 23rd of May 2014 the Faculty of History, University of Bucharest, will bring forward the artist's experience formed by his generation, who lived and adapted to all the social and political changes. Each of us is a piece of the big history mechanism, and the main preoccupation becomes the problem solving, becomes we want to highlight the idea of Romanian leap from communism to democracy.
Through the project “Born Before/Raised After” we want to sketch a map of the overlapping chronologies of subjective painting, engraving, sculpture and photography in a desire to develop a historical mosaic. The key to the interpretation of art, especially in this context, is collective memory as a form of representation.
This event is created especially for White Night of the Galleries, during 23rd and 24th of may, and we invite the audience to observe and participate at this art spectacle developed in the space of the Faculty of History.
