Artist Rebekka Stuhlemer’s first solo exhibition at Suprainfinit Gallery presents a large-scale intervention on the facade of the gallery’s block, located in the Mântuleasa neighbourhood, as well as an installation composed of textile paintings within the gallery’s space. The artist’s pictorial compositions, colourful and fragmented, spread throughout their surroundings, inclusive of both the visible and the invisible. The membranous corporeality of the paintings rests in an unresolved tension with its environment, continuously modelling its shape. The artist’s works question the Western Cartesian concept of the individual, simultaneously transforming public spaces, such as parking lots, library rooms, and the facades of buildings.
