Central University Library "Carol I" together with "Ion Bitzan" Foundation are organizing en event exhibition with 45 of the most relevant books as objects created by the artist Ion Bitzan between 1979 and 1997. From hand-made paper, engraving, calligraphy notes,drawing,collage and papier-mache,the installations and objects created by Bitzan were (and still are) a living source of inspiration for the many generations of artists that followed. The "Biblion" exhibited in the Biennal of Venice -Romanian Pavilion , the "Tristan Tzara"book exhibited at the Centenary Tristan Tzara -Maison de l'UNESCO Paris 1996,or the UNITER-1992 award trophy are just a few of the artist's successful visual testimonials that you can see displayed in Central University Library "Carol I" in Bucharest.

100 years ago , Romania was preparing to enter into war. In Europe -and it was terrible -but especially here ,in this part of the world it dies in the trenches. Beyond the hills ,inspirational to the Socolari Cemetery , in Serbia, which is the unstable Balkans, where the year 1914 was painfully repeated not long ago. The Socolari cemetery ,does not resemble of course ,with the monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Great War . Neither the horse resting among the near -abandonated graves has the greatness of statuary ensembles that ,in many places around the world ,remind of the deaths of millions of animals. It seems rather one of those lucky survivors of the great slaughter was converted to domestic labor. From Fikl's painting of the Great War we get a parable about what remains of humanity after the uselessness of the war was denounced,when it was unleasked by the rethoric of the heroism .
