In trying to best accommodate this year's Anim'est International Festival theme, I’ve endeavoured to put together an exhibition which combines two forms of art that I cannot help but be in love with. I’m talking about the comic strip and the animated film. The combo works both ways: there are animators who also created comic strips as well as comic book artists who ended up creating animated films. Although they have a lot in common, the two forms of art rely on different types of artistic language and that’s why the creative efforts of the more than 30 artists whose works we managed to showcase at the 12th edition of the festival deserve proper recognition. Pisica Patrata is a street artist that lives and works in Bucharest. He is also known as Ciubi or Alexandru Ciubotariu and additionally does comic strips, illustration, painting, urban toys and animation.
