Nicolae Comănescu restored the Romanian swear to the canvas lips. It transformed it with lightness and humor Rostopasca-style, into a plastic element. " Zgâții mă-tii de fluture " (a work in which a rhino swears a butterfly) is already urban folklore. Although he is interested in the social-political reality, Comănescu has a hypertrophied humor organ and an artistic flair that does not allow him to simply make art with a political beat. That would be too little. In the present exhibition, the humor turns into a corrosive plastic agent, which causes all the scenes of confrontation, of street fighting, to be diluted in a chromatic leak that brings to a common denominator the conflict. The violence melts, the representation of the battle scenes becomes a dynamic magma. It is a kind of self-struggle of the same element, an idealized inner turmoil, an image of war that can be both outer martial and inner jihad. (Dan Popescu)
