Located in a former art gallery, Diptych continues to exhibit contemporary art while also serving as a creative space and art studio. could be if urban policies would harmonize with architectural style. Strada Plantelor [Plants Street] evokes a longing for a garden-city rich in foliage and houses in Neo-Romanian, Art Deco and Modernist style, raised mainly between the two wars. Most of the buildings survived the communist era and are now still fighting to survive the lack of administration interest, through artistic means, amongst others. The gallery’s building was originally meant to function as an inn and is now a protected historical monument. The neighbourhood is art dense, hosting three art galleries, a photo studio and several creative workshops. The artists invited to display come from all walks of art: painting, sculpture, photography, sound, film, installation, performance and poetry. They are novel and unique, barely or not showcased at all anywhere else.

On the 26th September 2019, starting at 6 P.M, Diptych Art Space has opened its gates to the public with the first personal exhibition in Bucharest of the Hungarian artist Sándor Pinczehelyi. The exhibition can be visited until 30th of October 2019. Sándor Pinczehelyi was Born in Szigetvár on the 8th of July 1946. He matriculated from the Grammar School of Art in Pécs in 1964 and graduated from the Teacher’s Training College in Pécs in 1970 with a combined degree in Hungarian and Art. From 1969 to 1977 he worked for the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs as graphic artist, print restorer and exhibition organiser. Between 1977 and 1999 he was director of the Pécs City Art Gallery (Pécsi Galéria). He organized over 500 exhibitions in Hungary and abroad, including numerous graphic design poster shows of internationally renowned artists. From 2000 to 2005 he was the director of the Visual Art Institute of the University of Pécs, Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, where he taught painting and graphic design. His interest turned to the political symbols of Hungary (sickle and hammer, star, cobblestone) in the early 70s, when with a strong ironical undertone he lifted these then current symbols into his art. In the 80s his visual actions using different techniques (graphics, painting, photography, installation, video) centred around the national tricolor of red-white-green. In 1988 he exhibited in the Hungarian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. Several museums in Hungary and Europe include his works in their collection. His art is recognized world wide. He lives and works in Pécs, Hungary.
