The series of exhibitions titled MASTERS OF ROMANIAN COMICS continues at Suțu Palace with works by artist Sandu Florea – original comics leading us into a unique journey in the world offered by the 9th art form! The exhibition opening will take place at Suțu Palace – The Bucharest City Museum, Friday October 11th 2019, at 18.00. An artist with an impressive career in the field of comics, one that began in Romania and continued successfully in the U.S.A., Sandu Florea debuted his career by publishing the series The mischief of Păcală in 1968, in the Luminiţa magazine. After 1975 he abandoned his work as an architect and invested himself fully into drawing comics. Thus he became the most prolific Romanian graphic novel artist, publishing in nearly all magazines and almanacs for children and youths in Romania until 1989. In 1991 Sandu Florea and his family moved to the United States of America. In April 1992 he debuted at one of the most important publishing houses in the U.S.A. Marvel Comics. Since then, Sandu Florea worked on nearly 300 comics, illustrating the adventures of nearly all American superheroes: Conan the Barbarian, X-Force, Dr. Strange, The Executioner, Thunder Strike, Blade, Buffy – the Vampire Slayer, Insane Clown Posse, Generation X, Spiderman Unlimited, Elektra, X-treme X-men, Hawkeye, Batman R.I.P. etc. Presently, the Romanian-American artist became a staple in catalogues of American graphic novel publishers such as Marvel, DC Comics, Dark Horse and so on. Exhibition curator: Mihai I. Grăjdeanu, comic strip author. Entry is free of charge. The exhibition is open to visitors at Suțu Palace 1 - 31 October 2019.
