Nicolae Comănescu is among the legionnaires of post Decembrist art, one that knows it too well. He painted back in the ’90 when lots would say that painting was dead and irrelevant since painting Venus’s buttocks was a pale achievement compared to the much more easy way of capturing it on a handy cam. Founder of neo dada group Rostopasca, Comanescu used irony and gained a fame for being a pain in the back for all those who pompously declaimed such great words as Culture and Spirituality.
