MORA Gallery is now relocated to the new Art Center MORA, an appropriate space for meeting and dialogue between artists, the public and society, an environment proper for developing the contemporary art and for exploring art as a privileged means of educational processes, a framework dedicated to exploring and strengthening the essential role of art in a social and sustainable development, as a binder of the three basic pillars – environmental, social and economic.

Mist. Alice's landscapes 2

19:00 - 04:00

Artist: Alice Ţeca

Going beyond a program, concept or manifesto, works of art open up a fragment of the artist’s sensitivity, exploring in and by themselves landscapes of mind and memory. The artistic medium becomes a terra incognita populated by the phantasms of the subconscious, while the artist’s work takes life through an intuitive or deliberate attempt to chart this inner world that reveals itself to the viewer in a form that also conceals, dissimulates or blurs the atolls and Indies discovered by the explorer.
Beyond the theme, the artist talks about himself. Stronger or weaker, art’s self-referentiality or meta-ness invites us to reconstitute a trail staked by the works making up the visible geography of a hidden passage. It is no accident that Alice Teca titles her series Mist. Bringing into discussion the theme of seeing versus understanding, of the distance between the seer and the seen, of the possibility of capturing that inner landscape, and, more than that, of sharing it with an Other, mist, rain or smoke as figurative elements become simultaneously an obstacle and an access way towards the work of art.
One of the game’s stakes is the pleasure of it. However, in this autobiographical hopscotch, engaging the drawings and paintings of the exhibition, the promise of an aesthetic reward are doubled by the prospect of discovering the hidden emotion which animates the series of landscapes created by Alice Teca.
